Project Optimization of Aircraft Parking Positions

Airport/Facilities Planning & Design

Dubrovnik, Republic of Croatia, Europe

Project Description

Dubrovnik Airport was in the process of finalizing an extensive airport modernization program which included the extension of the passenger terminal building, car park and aircraft apron.  The extension of the passenger terminal building included additional concession spaces, enhanced Baggage Handling System, Check-in Hall and Departure Lounges with the possibility of including Passenger Boarding Bridges in the future.

Airport consultancy and design services were rendered for optimizing the existing airfield layout in order to increase overall airfield capacity, safety and airport operations.

Additionally, an assessment was conducted of the architectural design for the new terminal development program and included a general Terminal Verification including design parameters for the inclusion of Passenger Boarding Bridges.

Deliverables included:
  • Onsite analysis and assessment of current airside/ facilities including the development of a Site Analysis and Assessment Report outlining all critical findings.
  • Airfield design services including the preparation of various options for optimizing the existing and future apron configuration and associated aircraft parking positions based on the existing and future aircraft fleet mix.
  • Preparation of technical report outlining all recommendations for enhancing existing and future airfield enhancements.
  • Preparation of aircraft parking computer simulations illustrating minimum aircraft clearances, jet blast and power-in / push-back aircraft operations for all critical aircraft operating at Dubrovnik Airport.
