Project Description

Optimization of Existing Passenger Terminal

The JW Group (JWG) personnel was contracted to prepare a Traffic Forecast and Demand Capacity Analysis Study to assist the European Investment Bank (EIB) in determining the appropriation of project financing for the rehabilitation of Units 1, 2 & 3 and the proposed new Greenfield Terminal estimated to handle a total capacity of 40 million annual PAX.

The study included the preparation of a 30-year traffic forecast, detailed peak-hour analysis, analysis of a potential 3- and 4-wave peaking scenario and an assessment on how air traffic could be rescheduled to allow for a 4- and 6-hour window to conduct runway improvements.

Deliverables included:
  • On-site assessment and analysis of existing airport facilities and passenger processing times
  • 30-year passenger and operational traffic forecast based on a high-growth, low-growth and most-likely scenario
  • Preparation of peak-hour assessment for passenger throughout and aircraft traffic movements
  • Development of demand management strategies for optimizing air traffic movements through a 3- and 4-wave peaking strategy
  • Preparation of reports and client presentations to the EIB
