In preparation for the World Cup and the United States' 250th birthday in 2026, Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), supported by The JW Group, embarked on a multi-year journey to modernize their digital signage ecosystem.

JWG is supporting this effort through their active On-Call contract.

Project Description

FIDS Assessment and Recommendations

The JW Group conducted a campus-wide assessment of all dynamic information displays at PHL.

JWG then provided recommendations for a modernized signage ecosystem that was not only more aesthetically pleasing, but was backed by new technologies and connected by a centralized Content Management System (CMS).

Design, Construction Documentation, and Procurement Support

The JW Group is currently preparing complete design and construction documentation for the future digital signage solution.

Additionally, during this project phase JWG is developing a Digital Design Strategy for PHL, as well as construction documents, specifications, cost estimates, and procurement documents.

Content Management System (CMS)

PHL is implementing a content management system (CMS) to manage all visual displays throughout the airport. The CMS will integrate with multiple digital content feeds and systems - such as the existing Flight Information Display System (FIDS) - organize and format it, and used PHL-defined rules to populate digital signage throughout the airport.

JWG's design team worked with PHL stakeholders to identify all functional, performance, and technical requirements of the future CMS and drive the vendor selection process.
