Project Description

Terminal and Airside Planning, Conceptual Design, and overall Programming for the new Terminal A was completed through an on-call contract for services with the Puerto Rico Ports Authority.  The initial task order included the development of the Terminal Program which included the airside and terminal facilities, supporting infrastructure planning, forecasting, demand and space programming, cost estimates, funding analysis and FAA grant coordination.  The driver of this expansion was the tremendous growth the airport was experiencing through cruise port passengers and the requirement to accommodate this growing demand.

The project tasks and activities included the following:
  • Developed the required planning for the new Terminal A and supporting facilities
  • Analyzed the space needs and program for the passenger terminal
  • Developed options for the terminal layouts and define requirements
  • Developed conceptual designs, phasing plans, and cost estimates
  • Coordinated with the FAA ADO on grant and funding approach
