Houston, Texas, USA
Services from The JW Group (JWG) were requested to develop an IT Capital Expenditure Support Plan for the Houston Airport System (HAS). The development of the IT Strategic Plan was based on the information gathered in earlier performed phases. Each identified system, application, and process was evaluated considering the existing configuration, industry trends (peer airport comparisons), available technologies, impacting projects at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), and Ellington Airport (EFD) (planned and on-going), and the ability to support the identified organizational goals and objectives. Preliminary recommendations were established along with recommended costs, anticipated benefits, implementation durations, and implementation dependencies. The prioritized recommendations and identified projects were evaluated in conjunction with the existing HAS Capital Improvement Program to identify planned projects that have IT elements, areas where economies of scale can be utilized, and identifying relationships and interdependencies between projects. Upon a workshop review with HAS stakeholders, The JWG delivered a final IT Strategic Plan for HAS IT systems and services.
