The Gerald R. Ford International Airport Authority (GFIAA) contracted The JW Group (JWG) to produce an Information Technology Strategic Plan (ITSP) that would position the GFIAA to focus on implementing information technology related systems and applications that support the overall business and organizational goals of the Authority. The JWG enacted a six-step plan to achieve the GFIAA’s goal starting with a comprehensive assessment of existing systems, processes, policies and organizational capabilities. Technology efficiencies and trending technologies with implementation strategies were identified to propel the airport into using modern systems. The JWG used its Strategic Information Systems Planning methodology to finalize the ITSP.
The ITSP provided recommended projects and an implementation plan for a five year and beyond planning horizon. The recommended projects included rough order of magnitude costs, anticipated durations, and project dependencies. All recommended projects were then reviewed in a holistic approach to develop a prioritized list of projects and an overall implementation schedule that aligned with the Authority’s Capital Improvement Plan budgeting process.
