Project Site Wide Communications Network

Technology Planning

New York City, New York, USA

Project Description

The JW Group (JWG) personnel was responsible for the detailed design of a site-wide communications network at the World Trade Center Site that was implemented in a phased fashion. The opening of facilities and buildings and the deployment and integration of systems of the site were reviewed to develop a phased communications network to support the overall requirements. The network will connect various Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) and non-PANYNJ facilities across the site to provide critical security and building system data to a centralized situational awareness platform. Tasks for this project include coordination with various property owners and stakeholders, identification of equipment locations, calculation of network loads and bandwidth requirements, and selection of appropriate network routers, switches and security appliances.
