Project Description

The JW Group (JWG) was part of a team of consultants in a multiyear capital development program to enhance IT systems and to provide increased support for Delta Airlines at the Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) . As part of that project, the team was involved with the coordination and design of numerous Information Systems and building programs simultaneously including the development of an ITMP.

For the ITMP Project, team members developed the business and technical requirements for an Information Technology Master Plan for SLC. The plan integrated the airport’s operational goals and business objectives with suitable recommendations and IT solutions. This ITMP provided a well-designed strategy and approach for IT projects and implementations for a duration of three to five years. The plan specifically focused on the short term needs of the Department of Aviation while recommending IT solutions that complement the new terminal facility.

The plan developed recommendations, costing, comparative airport benchmarking, project priorities, an implementation plan/roadmap, ongoing support and maintenance costs and identified staffing needs for all planned projects.  The ITMP also mapped the recommendations to the Department of Airport’s goals, objectives and study requirements and weighted those to develop the roadmap and project schedule/timing.  Specific technology and focus areas The JWG analyzed as part of this plan included communications infrastructure and networks, parking revenue control system, Multi-Use Flight Information Displays (MUFIDS), digital way finding, audio and visual paging, video management and access control, Wi-Fi in public areas and operational Wi-Fi, alternate carrier access, as well as other technologies were studied and analyzed as part of the study.
