The Reno-Tahoe International Airport engaged in improvement activities that included a Terminal Refurbishment Project and a Consolidated Security Checkpoint of the Future. During the design process, it was discovered that the existing communications infrastructure will be impacted by the upcoming construction activities. The existing communications infrastructure served as the primary feed supporting the entire Terminal Area of the Airport and various support buildings. This impacted the majority of communications systems for the Airport and their tenants. As a result, The JW Group (JWG) was retained to design required modifications to the communications infrastructure to route around the construction area. The modifications included the development of procurement documentation including specifications and drawings for a campus-wide cabling infrastructure. The JWG was also responsible for conducting stakeholder meetings with the Airport and tenants to ensure that the current and future IT requirements were met. The project involved a bidding process which included procurement support to ensure that the project requirements were satisfied.
