The Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR) desired to relocate their Primary Communications Center (PCC), operations staff, Badging and Police staff, and a training room/Emergency Operations Center (EOC). On behalf of the contracted consulting firm, The JW Group (JWG) developed a Network and Security Systems Plan for the existing and future needs of the Network and Security Systems of the relocated resources. The effort involved a needs assessment of staff, equipment, and processes through a series of site visits, interviews and reviews of existing documentation. The JWG identified future demands, new capabilities, and developed requirements to meet the needs of the airport. The assessment identified alternative solutions and final recommendations on required activities. The Network and Security System’s plan was included in an overall report to GRR and recommendations were included as part of GRR’s IT Master Plan.
As an add-on, The JWG was asked to also provide Architectural and Engineering Design Services to facilitate the relocation of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel from the 1st and 2nd floor of the main terminal to the lower level of Concourse B. These services included construction documents, cost estimating and construction administration.
