The Detroit Metropolitan Airport contracted The JW Group (JWG) to develop a strategic and operational Security and Infrastructure Master Plan which included the analysis and documentation of business requirements. Short-term and long-term recommendations were provided related to the communications infrastructure, specifically the cabling infrastructure, the Administrative local area network, and the Security local area network.
As part of the project, The JWG was responsible for the design and development of a new communications infrastructure that included inside plant cabling improvements and a new local area network to support the improvements to the CCTV system. Additionally, the work included outside plant cabling and a local area network. The outside plant cabling consists of an initial implementation of an inner loop to support the development of a campus backbone distribution system. The new local area network consists of enterprise class core layer and edge layer switches to support the unification and consolidation of separate networks on the airport campus.
